Day One

So I dropped off the hubs at the recruiter's office today, and he'll be heading to boot camp. Right now I'm distracting myself by hanging out at my parents house. Today is actually a great day to do so - the weather is beautiful and they have this awesome large screened-in back porch, so I'm hanging out here with my laptop, enjoying the warm breezes.

In other good news, my landlord agreed to let me get a cat. There is a no pets rule in our building, but we've been there for awhile, always pay rent on time, and I think the fact that the hubs is gone helps. So in a few weeks, I'm going to go out and get me a cute kitty. Maybe two, so they can play.

navy wife

In two days, Mr Not Margaret will attempt again to start boot camp to become a Navy Reservist. I'm not thrilled that he's leaving, but I'm happy for him to be pursuing his goals. I will miss him a lot though :(

Delays

So, follow up to the last post, Mr Not Margaret is not yet Seaman Not Margaret. Believe it or not (and if you have any experience with the military, you will believe it and expect it), there has been a delay. I guess it's a valid reason, although it's ridiculous at the same time. So we wait and see.

in the navy ....

So tomorrow begins a new chapter in the life of Mr & Mrs Not Margaret. The Mr officially becomes a sailor. For now he'll just be a reservist, but is considering the benefits of active duty.

I'm trying to put my best game face on, but I'm only human. A human with a soft gooey center.

running

For the past few days, it has been cold. Like, freezing-nose-hairs cold. And oddly enough, I've actually wanted to go for a run, but not enough that I would risk frostbite.

Today is the first day since, I don't know, Monday, that it hasn't been in the single digits or below zero (sometimes double digits below zero). It's actually a balmy 22 degrees out! Finally! So I put on some layers and went for a run. Yes, there's still a lot of snow on the ground, so I ran in the street on side streets, where there was less snow. But still snow.

22 degrees is still pretty chilly, especially when the wind blows. But it felt good to move. I could always go to the gym, but I really hate the gym. It smells like sweat, and I hate having to pack my gym bag in the morning, then go after work, change in front of strangers, and then sit on a treadmill or elliptical machine, breathing stinky, sweaty air, picking wedgies in front of the stranger behind me on the stationary bike. I would rather run in snow and 22 degree cold.
